Duped by my best friend

I have been the other woman for a year now. Before that he was my best friend for several years. We were both in dysfunctional marriages and I am now separated bit he is not. It has been a roller coaster of him being separated, moving back in, saying he feels obligated etc. last December he was fed up, said he was done and then in January at a counseling session decided to give it a donor die try. I have been through the ringer. When they get along he pushes me away, when they don't he pulls me in.

After this last time untold him I had to stay away from him because it can't go back to the friendship that we had before even though that's what he wants. I have always been his "rock" but now it's different I want him to leave her and now I'm beginning to think he never will and that I have just been a "crutch" or his "salve". To help him maintain his relationship with her. What do I do? Every time we break up he says he wants everything to stay the same except no sex but then we always end up back at the same place. I told him this can't go on, he has to make a decision
